Tom Elliott wanted comment on an article about a US city which has re-named Good Friday “Spring Holiday”, to be more inclusive. My stance is that the ‘backstory’ here goes beyond Political Correctness and argues that Christianity has been embedded in Australian society since colonisation — and it’s time to remove some of the overt Christian influences. I point to Scandinavia where many “cultural festivals” are observed — to provide “inclusiveness”, but WITHOUT any religious overtones.
